Apparently i have a valentine this year. I say 'apparently' because it was unexpected. It is definitely cool.

This bear is so soft. It's like when those baby stuff animals come into the thrift store and i want to take them home sew all of them together and make a bed out of it because it would be the most comfortable thing ever.

First Day on the Job: Part 2

I'm tired. and my brain is overwhelmed. But it was so fun! Taking vitals, running back and forth between floors, pretending to speak spanish, filling out paper works, splinting legs, pushing patients around, pricking fingers, listening to hearts, and the occasion of playing with babies. This is going to be a fun job. I'm pretty tired, i forgot what working 24's was like. Today was a half day, 6 hrs, and I can't imagine what a whole day will be like! I'll find out tomorrow...

First Day on the Job: Part 1

Tomorrow is my first day at the Hospital. I'm very excited. I get to get up super early for the first time in a long time. I also get to wear SCRUBS. I better have the best day ever cause i spent a lot on my uniform and I've been practicing lifting patients all week. I'm going to make my lunch for then so that I'm all ready to go in the morning. It's like being in Elementary school again!

Life is good. God is so good. I couldn't have asked for a better job. I don't even deserve this job. There are so many wonderful things happening in my life that I don't deserve. Thus, the story of my life, grace. I hope your weekend is as wonderful as I know mine will be!

Dizzy Fanclub

So it's been a year since i've posted anything. Which is more than okay with me because i'm more interested in reading blogs than i am with blogging myself. I'm also more interested in hanging out with people than my computer. And i doubt that YOU would find any interest in what i'm writing here...

But here we are. Hi, i've missed you.

I spent the weekend with a lot of AWESOME people. I'm really glad that I have a sweet bro and sis that like to hang out with me! I'm in a very happy and exciting place in my life. A lot of really good things are going on. Maybe i'll let you in on it in the future. ;)

Straight Edge

Controversial? Sure: the lifestyle, the trend, the tattoos, the scene. But the claims are simple and the belief grounded. Even though many kids who claimed to be straight edge at one time (when they weren't even at legal drinking age) have "changed their minds" and accepted smoking and drinking, there is still an international movement to be true to the "edge". Straight edge is simple, they don't drink and they don't smoke. The once major movement in the hardcore scene is today seen as a cheesy trend, but I think individuals who stand up for something they believe in are awesome and should be admired.

I don't claim to be straight edge, and I don't alienate myself to people who hold the same beliefs like many edge kids do, but I don't drink or smoke. I believe that those things influence your life in a negative way: it inhibits your ability to think clearly, it causes you to act differently, its addictive, and its unhealthy. I have seen too many lives destroyed by alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. My friends make fun of me for "being straight edge" and they joke about straight edge tattoos. I would never get a straight edge tattoo, but I know that I could get one and not regret it or want to cover it up because if I believed in something enough to tattoo it on myself I better be a person who can back it up with my lifestyle.

Straight Edge is not "cool" and it's not what 21-25 year olds are into. People at this age are at the bar. Does this mean you alienate yourself? No. A belief, like believing in redemption through Jesus Christ, does not mean you alienate yourself from those who do not believe what you believe, in fact it draws you closer. I don't drink or smoke and I've never been closer to people who do. I believe in straight edge and I want to influence others with it. I hope that people will see the stand that I've made and that it would at least cause them to consider what they are doing in their own lives. I dont turn my back on it, like my stand for Christ, I am a Christian and I would never deny that or live otherwise, people don't question whether or not I love Jesus, in the same way people don't wonder if 'tonight will be the night that Rachel drinks' because I'm not going to. I've made a decision to live a certain way and because I so strongly believe this way I can't live otherwise. It has nothing to do with three x's, music, or a scene. I do things for myself. I live how I want to live and if that makes me something, than fine, but something doesn't make me who I am.

His music is abstract (hence, iceland) but also dedicated to lyrics and a mixture of folk-pop and avant-garde or experimental material. His ernest vocals bring to mind Iron and Wine or David Bazan.

I went to an awesome show at the Hawthorne last night. Lots of Doom Metal. Tombs started it off with songs from their album Winter Hours. The three piece band creates an amazing depth to their music. To add another member would most likely take away from their awesomeness.

Ghettofab Interiors

I have many new experiences since living in my new place. Being exposed to Cable TV is one. I'm sure this could be a bad thing for those who spend time watching it, but seeing as i only enjoy it ever-so-often when i just get off of a loooong day at work and my housemate Will is having a 'chill fest', i think it could only be good for me.

Proof of this is the effect that one such show has had on me

. It's called Pimp My Ride. The single episode that i have seen has changed my life. I've discovered a new calling.

In the show, the shop has a certian amount of time to "pimp" the owners car and make it super cool.

There's a guy who:

Designs the exterior,

Makes the sound system

Wires the Car

Paints the car

and MAKES THE UPHOLSTERY!

This guys whole job is to design the interior to match the ouside of the car. He's so fast at cutting, sewing, and putting seats together.

This gives me a fresh idea!

I can sew, so i should make a show called "Ghettofab Interiors" and make the insides of cars super sweet. This is going to be awesome.

It's Tuesday.

I should be studying, but i've been working on this cool thing that has taken up all my free time. I enjoy being creative and i've reached this point in my life where i'm focusing on doing what i've always loved to do, but haven't given time to. I've found in the last few weeks that when i make time to do the thing God's gifted me with i enjoy everything in my life (even my job!). It's like eating right, it just makes the rest of you happy.

So, no, i didn't eat right today (except i just had an awesome salad!) but i thought i'd post this a little prematurely. I'll probably replace this post with the final artwork.

I officially moved to Portland July 1st, this means that i have been here for all of July all of August and since September is going SO INCREDIBLY FAST- almost all of September as well!! so over two and a half months and i have barely GLANCED at my page. lameness. if i got more creative i would spend time putting photos up and being INTERESTING.

Vancouver fireworks

On Friday (the fourth) i was getting nice and cozy at home expecting to spend the weekend alone and bored when my bible college buddy Phen called me up and invited me to go with a group of friends to Vancouver, WA for a firework show. I looked it up online and knew that this had to be an amazing show, much better than the Hanford Bowl. To my surprise, it wasn't as good as Hanford's, but we did have a fun time at the fair, eating Elephant Ear (see photo) for the first time, and dog-piling it up to watch the show!

My New Home

This is my new apartment!!! It's pretty great. I live in a three bedroom apt with two roomies. Our rooms are downstairs and the livingroom and kitchen are upstairs. We have a nice view off of our balcony. It's like waking up everyday feeling like your at summer camp!

I've moved to Portland. The change has been sudden, exciting, and fulfilling. I can't help but feel like a huge part of my life is missing. I can't help but feel like i'll stay here and never head back to the valley again.... I don't know what lies ahead of me, but I'm excited to see where the Lord takes me.

The drive to get here was for sure the WORST part. So i recommend FLYING if you want to come visit :)

The last photo is me drinking a slushi from this ghetto quicki mart, that had the NICEST older ladies working there.

Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, and Dodge

IT'S DODGEBALL.

it's fast. it's furious. it's dangerous. it's quick. it's fun. it's dodgey. it's darn right awesome.

Lemoore Police Department competed in a fund raiser for Make A Wish foundation at a huge brand new event center in Lindsay, CA. We drove our cops cars out to the desert. ready to kick butt. The place was swarmed with Lemoore PD cars, and our twelve team members. Other teams were much smaller than ours and lacked the creative uniforms we sported. Each of our team members shirts were embellished with a number from the penal code. Some examples of this are the numbers 187 which is "murder", another had "K9", and mine was "emergency vehicles" (closest we could find to ambulance). We played every team-about 15 or more games.

The events lasted hours but in the end

....we dominated.

Lemoore PD won 2nd place!

Its because we had strong, experienced, young men on our team.

and one very 'tuff' cheerleader.

Dodgeball should be a national sport and played at the olympics,

.......instead of CURLING.

i was driving to work. in my spankin clean car (thank to my wonderful mom). i had just picked up a dozen donuts - because thats what cops eat on friday. i came around a corner and tried to avoid something in the road by driving directly over it. little did i know, it was a little flying friend. once the grill of my car was about to hit its bitty head i saw the look of fear in its eyes, and as we locked eyes i know he saw the fear in mine. before i could react and shake myself out of the stare i was in i was already driving past, and in the review mirror the feathers flew.

Rest in Peaces little Pigeon. I'm sorry you can no longer share your song with us and you will never again fly overhead sharing your dear possessions with all the world.

Blessed Bests

Being here with D has been such a blast. I have missed her more than anything. It was eight months since we last saw eachother, which for best friends, is FAR too long! I came here on Monday night right after D was at the doctors having pictures of her throat taking. Yuck.
On Tuesday we went to Newport Beach and hung out, got a tan. Then we went to the Biola v. Azusa game which ended terribly with Azusa winning 71 to 70. It was an emotional time for us all. Then, of course, we went out to Golden Spoon where I met Chris, Charlie, Johnny, and Bobby... a few of D and Brits really great friends. We had a fun time huddled around a heater to keep warm after eating frozen yogurt in the cold.
Wednesday was really fun. We ate trader joes pizza, went and had this drink called Bolba, which was really weird but good, then we attempted long boarding, but we were only able to do it lying on our stomaches. haha. We watched Miss Congeniality and had a grand time hanging out in a house with the rest of the house mates. The girls here are all so sweet and I really felt welcomed. I hope that throughout this next semester I can come visit a lot and get to know them better.
D and I are going to spend some time in Fullerton today before I leave. It will be so nice. And I shall be very very sad to go.

Best Friend

Im going to see my best friend today!!!! I can't wait!!! I haven't seen her since... June 18th, and it wasn't even for THAT long. The fact that we're going to be able to hang out for more than 24 hours is amazing. I cant remember the last time that happened! I can't wait!!!!!!

We had a nice farewell last week for our dear friend Ronnie Slimp who is leaving us to go down to Life Pacific Bible College. We went out to eat at Sal's in Selma (my personal favorite). It was alot of fun. Between Zediker and McFarrens there was food and fellowship to go around.

Melodrama

I stoned a shovel today for the part it played in todays melodrama. It slacked in its duties to perform. I received little help from it as I took on a plot of land. Land to ‘destonify’.
